Students,

Today we returned to our good geography friend HEI (aka Human Environment Interatction). How we humans have adapted to life in India and how we have modified the environment to suit our needs. We primarily focused on Climate and population density and how it affects the way humans live. See power point below.

Students,

Today we took a look at the physical geography of South Asia. As you know we usually do a map for the beginning of each unit however due to the complexity of the maps this time around we as a geography team thought it would be better to review the major physical features of the region prior to construction of our South Asia maps.

March 17th, 2014

Students,

Welcome back from spring break, we got a slight reprieve from hard work today by getting to finish Rabbit Proof Fence. This 2002 film followed the journey of 3 half-caste girls as they tried to escape British captivity and make the 1200 mile journey home.

Be prepared to discuss the idea of the "stolen generation" and the implications it had for those half-caste children removed from their homes and forced into British settlements. Loss of culture, identity, and heritage are going to be important points that I will expect to see.

Hope every had a good first day back and I will see you tomorrow.

P.S. my suit was totally green!

Students,

Today we talked about 'highest' continent  as far as latitude is concerned, Antarctica!! We watched this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9nuvf6B-9I) video. It is a great documentary that does a great job  providing information for Antarctica. If you missed Monday please take the time to watch this to make sure you are on the same page as the rest of the class.

Reminder: Test on Wednesday the 5th!!!
