Students,

Students,

Today we introduced and worked to expand our grasp on the vocabulary for this unit. I will tell you know that historically the difference between a student who gets an A or a B as opposed to a C or a D is an understanding of the vocabulary?

January 17th + 18th, 2017

Students,

Today and tomorrow we looked at the Second industrial revolution. I would like to take time here on the blog to reiterate that Westward Expansion notes and Second Industrial Revolution notes take place during the same time period. One focuses on the West and the other on the East. That does not mean that they do not influence one another, and if you look you can find hints of each within the other. If you were out, check out the PPT below!

Today we took a look back at the Transcontinental railroad via Ken Burns Documentary The West: Episode 5 the greatest enterprise under god. This highlights the challenges and motivations behind creating on of the greatest technological wonders of the 19th century.

The immigrants / poor it employed
the Buffalo slaughtered
the natives displaced
the corruption within the private and public sectors

all have a major impact on the trajectory of American life, by setting the stage for the 20th century and ushering us into an age of technological wonders.

Absentees and those present: make sure you take a crash course on westward expansion below.
