The posters as a whole were fantastic, and I hope you enjoyed this alternative to power point. Students,
Today we took a different approach to group work and got our creative juices flowing. We are creating propaganda posters for different conflicts that had a major impact on colonial development. Including; King PHillips War, the English Civil War, Bacon's Rebellion, and the Glorious Revolution.
We came together as groups did our due research and created fantastical posters that delight all who gaze upon them. We will continue this activity tomorrow.

Today we finished up the notes on colonial life that we began on Friday last week.
PPT for colonial Life
In addition we began to examine the founding of the original colonies. Who started them? Why did they bother to do so? How did they make their money? these were just a few of the questions we took a look at. We implemented a 1- 3 - 6 protocol to make sure the vast amount of information was shared with everyone. Below is the graphic organizer we used. If you were absent, you can fill in the chart from the web, or you should feel free to drop by my tutorials (3:30 - 4:00) to get time with the books.

Important things to remember and bring to discussion tomorrow morning;
Not all colonies were founded by the kindest of people (Georgia) was initially a debtors colony.
Religion played a large role in the motivations of colonists.
Homework Assignment - Due September 12th
Respond : To what extent did the development of slavery contribute to the economic, social, and political organization of the southern colonies.
Address the following in your response; (prior knowledge and reading)

You will need to complete the following readings and reply on the blog (Post September 6th) to the following question. In addition you are asked to reply to one of your classmates to further the discussion.

- Theory of mercantilism
- Reasons for settlement of the Chesapeake region
- Relationship with Native Americans
- Why elites came from Europe to the Americas? became what sort of land owner?

Today we took at look at colonial life between 1607 and 1770 this broad time period is full of developments that play into large historical events further down the road (i.e. The American Revolution and the Civil War)
Geography and culture played a big part in the formation of the character of these colonies and it was those aspects that we took a closer look at today. Power point below
