November 19th, 2014

Students,

Today we worked with primary sources to identify the motivations for soldiers during the civil war. We used the SOAPSTONE method to help us in our letter / journal reading and draw conclusion about these individuals who were often knowingly marching to their death.

If you were absent you will need to see me in class to get the packet to complete the assignment.

After we examined the letters we took a look at two popular songs during the Civil War (Battle hymn of the Republic for the North, and Dixie Land for the South). Here you got to do some independent analysis and compare these two songs. Trying to pick apart their importance to the different causes and motivations held by each side.

November 11th - 13th, 2014

Students,

This week we are constructing a domino rally of events that ultimately serve as the spark for civil war in the United States. We are working in groups to construct a more complete picture of these events so that you can the student can discuss these events and understand their context and role in the larger coming conflict.

November 10th, 2014

Students,

Today we finished up our Antebellum revivalism and reform notes and set the stage for our project that sets the stage for the civil war! We also had our anti-bullying pep-rally today it was a blast, I saw lots of orange through out the day, and while the Red Raider in me detests the color, the teacher and the cause can make me forgive it for the week.
