September 9th, 2014

Students,

Today we had our first binder check. Overall they have been fantastic, just make sure your attention to detail and organization carries on through out the year.

We also took a look at a New England Town, from the end of the 17th century. We applied knowledge that we've been building up to address several questions. The responses seem to very well applied and thought out! If you were absent, check below for the information you missed.

Since the Object of Mercantilism in theory was to increase Wealth of the Mother Country, it required favorable balance of trade. This meant that more had to be sold than bought to produce an increase of wealth. This concept caused wealth to be gained at the cost of other countries. Since most of the early settlers were looking for a new start in life to avoid religious persecution which was the main reason for their settlement in the Chesapeake region. The trade with the Natives upset the Mother Country and caused great problems. The elites came the the New World looking to get rich and used slaves to try and accomplish this feat.
